Manoj and Mukesh, both government employees, were digging a septic tank last evening when they slipped into it, police said.
The area around the pit also caved-in as it was damp leading to which the duo got stuck into the pit.
Police and fire fighters swung into action and started rescue operation, however, it took one hour for them to pull the brothers out of the pit.
They were rushed to Civil Hospital but were declared brought dead.
