2 die as car falls into canal

A couple died after the car they were travelling in fell into Indira Gandhi canal in Sriganganagar district of this division, police said today.

The deceased identified as Ravi Kumar and Rajni, who were in a relationship, had left home yesterday in an SUV that Ravi had borrowed from one Dharampal, a driver, Ghadsana C S Soda, SHO Nayi Mandi said.

Last night, the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the canal, he said.

The bodies have been handed over to their family members after postmortem.
