2 giant pandas deliver twins in China

Two female giant pandas have given birth to two male twins at a breeding centre in China's southwestern Sichuan Province.

A total of nine cubs including four twins have been born this year at the centre which was established to protect the endangered species in Chengdu city.

Jingjing, one of the giant pandas that gave birth yesterday, got her first pregnancy.

The cubs were weighed 171.5 grams and 163.5 grams, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Another panda called Siyuan, in her second pregnancy, gave birth to the twin cubs which weighed 174.1 grams and the second, 180.4 grams.

So far, 165 giant panda cubs have been born in the base, which boasts the world's largest giant panda breeding community, with 144 giant pandas now.
