Two brothers, both suspected to be involved in opium smuggling, were today arrested with one kg of the narcotics near Daltongunj Railway Station.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, P R Barwar told newsmen that the arrested brothers, identified as Jaspal Singh and Chakor Singh, both residents of Chahar village under Lachu police station of Ludhiana, Punjab, had allegedly purchased the narcotics from one Jimmi Kumar of Pipratand village under Panki police station of Palamau district.
The cost of the contraband was estimated to be Rs. One lakh.
The arrest was made when the accused persons were about to board the Hatia-Chandigarh Express, Burwar added.
