Two kg of gold ornaments estimated to be worth around Rs 60 lakh and Rs 60,000 in cash were stolen from a cooperative bank at a village near Kothagiri, about 20 km from here today, police said.
They said villagers noticed the bank door open in the morning and informed the bank secretary Haldorai, who rushed to the spot and found the ornaments and cash missing.
The burglars gained entry into the bank by breaking open four locks, including on the front iron grill doors, they said, adding the bank did not have a burglar alarm or CCTV.
