2 kg gold seized from man at Hyderabad airport

Customs officers today seized 2 kg of gold worth Rs 59 lakh from a passenger at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here while he was attempting to smuggle it by concealing it in his rectum and LED lamp fixtures.
Based on specific intelligence, the Customs officers of Air Intelligence Unit, seized 2,000 gram of gold in 20 gold bars of foreign origin valued at Rs 59.10 lakh from a passenger, who arrived at the airport from Singapore by Tiger Airways flight, a senior Customs official said.
The passenger concealed eight gold bars, weighing 800 grams in LED lamp fixtures and 12 gold bars weighing 1,200 grams in his rectum, he said, adding investigation is underway.
