2 killed, 7 hurt as bus hits auto-rickshaw in AP

Two women were killed and seven other persons sustained injuries when their auto-rickshaw collided with a school bus in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district this morning, an official said.
The children in the school bus escaped unhurt in the mishap, police said.
The auto-rickshaw, carrying 10 farm labourers, was heading towards Pullipaka village when the private bus coming from the opposite direction hit the three-wheeler near Salempalem village around 8 am, Koduru's sub-inspector S Priyakumar said.

The two women, who were in the auto-rickshaw, died on the spot. They were identified as B Meeramma (50) and K Dhanalakshmi (40), both from the Salempalem village, he said.
The seven injured persons were taken to Avanigadda Government Hospital and later shifted to a hospital in Vijayawada for better treatment, the sub-inspector said.
The bus driver was arrested, he said, adding that a case was registered in connection with the mishap.
