2 MCD officials arrested by ACB in bribery case

Two MCD officials were today caught red-handed by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi government while accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 5,000 from a man in the Nangloi area here.
The two officials of the civic body -- identified as Mukesh Kumar and Lalit Rathi -- are both 'beldaars' posted in the Rohini division, said a police official.
The complainant had approached ACB on Aug. 25 via the official helpline (011-23812905) and complained that the accused officials had sought a bribe of Rs 5,000 and were threatening to demolish his 50-square-yard under-construction house unless their demand was met, said MK Meena, Chief of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB).
ACB officials today laid a trap and caught the duo red- handed while accepting the bribe. The two accused were arrested immediately and booked for hatching a criminal conspiracy and under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Meena added.
