Two pilgrims, including a woman, died of natural causes en route to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas, raising the death toll in the ongoing yatra to five, officials said today.

The woman pilgrim, identified as Bangalore's Vijaya Raju (51), died of cardiac arrest at the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal district yesterday evening, they added.

The second pilgrim, 68-year-old JL Shaw from Kolkata, breathed his last while being taken to Soura Medical Institute after he complained of uneasiness in the morning yesterday.

Meanwhile, the yatra, which was briefly suspended as a precautionary measure today morning due to heavy rain, resumed after the weather cleared and tracks were declared safe.
