Two Punjab police personnel were arrested and suspended on the charges of alleged corruption, police said today.

They have been identified as Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Baljinder Singh and Head Constable (HC) Gulab Singh, police said.

According to an FIR launched by the victim Saraj Singh, he alleged that both the officials conducted a raid to his house on June 1 in search of drug.

When nothing was found, the accused asked Singh to accompany them, police said.

The officials asked him to pay Rs 50,000, and threatened to implicate him in a drug case if he failed to do so.

The matter was settled for Rs 30,000. He gave Rs 20,000 immediately and asked to pay the remaining Rs 10,000 by June 11.

Meanwhile, both the officials repeatedly telephoned and threatened him of dire consequences.

The victim, a resident of Nasirpur Janian village, lodged a complaint after following which an enquiry in the case was registered against them, police said.
