2 smugglers arrested, 63 timber scants seized in Jammu

Police today seized 63 timber scants and six freshly cut trees and arrested two alleged smugglers in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on a specific information, a police team conducted a raid at compartment no. 85 in Kakothi village of Bhaderwah forest division and seized 63 timber scants and six freshly cut trees from the area, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gandoh, Bushan Kumar Ganjoo said.

He said that two persons - Duni Chand and Jaffar Hussain - were taken into custody.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway, he said, adding, more seizures and arrests are expected.
