20 new judges appointed to high courts

Fifteen judges and five additional judges were today appointed to two high courts as the government moved ahead with filling up vacancies in the higher judiciary.

Three separate Law Ministry notifications said 15 new judges have been appointed to the Madras High Court and five additional judges to the Kerala High Court.

Those appointed to the Madras High Court are: A M Basheer Ahamed, T Ravindran, S Baskaran, P Velmurugan, G Jayachandran, C V Karthikeyan, V Parthiban, R Subramanian, M Govindaraj, M Sundar, R Suresh Kumar, Nisha Banu, M S Ramesh, S M Subramaniam and Anita Sumanth.

The additional judges appointed to the Kerala High Court are: Sathish Ninan, Devan Ramachandran, Somarajan P, Shirey V, and Aettupanku Mohammedkhan Babu.
 

These appointments are out of the 34 new judges that are to be appointed to various high courts.

Proposals regarding confirming 11 additional judges as permanent in high courts and transfer of 30 judges have also been cleared by the government.
