20-year-old man drowns in river

A 20-year-old man today drowned in the Bhavani River in Mettupalayam in the district.

Dinesh from Melkunda in nearby Udhgamandalam had come to attend a function in Mettupalayam, about 40 km from here and had gone to take bath in the river, police said.

He was dragged in by the undercurrent and drowned, police said.
