The sales tax department today seized 2000 kg mawa from a private bus at Palta here and sent samples for testing to check if it was adulterated.
A bus coming from Jodhpur was intercepted this morning, an official said adding that upon checking, it was found that the vehicle was loaded with 100 mawa tins, weighing 20 kg each, on its roof.
The driver could not produce any bill, but said that he had loaded the mawa in Bikaner and a person in Jodhpur was supposed to take the delivery.

"We have seized both the bus and the mawa and informed the medical and health department, so that they could check, whether it was spurious or not," the official said.
No one has come to take the delivery of the consignment until now, he said.
Altogether 1100 kg mawa was seized by the medical and health department last week from a godown in Sangari area. It was found to be spurious by the health department and later destroyed.
Similarly, a health department collected about four samples of mawa from Phalodi and Lohawat areas today following some complaints.
Food Inspector Rajneesh Sharma said that they have been receiving complaints about spurious mawa from areas like Lohawat, Phalodi and others.
"We have taken samples from from places and would take action subject to report of the test," Sharma said.
