2016 had path-breaking performances by actresses: Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt says this year has been good for actresses in Bollywood as the audience got to watch some path-breaking and strong performances by the female leads in various films.

Alia won the 'Star Plus Ki Nayi Soch' award and 'best actress' award for her role in "Udta Punjab" which drew much appreciation from the audience.

"I am happy about these two awards. I think everyone, Sonam Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Anushka Sharma, all performed brilliantly. This year has been good for females as we have had strong and path-breaking performances," she told reporters at the Star Screen Awards here last night.
 

"I am inspired by all these girls, I hope they continue to inspire me and we all inspire each other," the actress said.

Alia delivered power-packed performance in "Udta Punjab" and "Dear Zindagi", Sonam was lauded for her role of late flight attendant Neerja Bhanot in "Neerja" while Anushka won applause for her role of a wrestler in "Sultan".

When asked which subject she hated the most as a child, Alia said, "In my life, chemistry has been good but not in school as I hated the subject."

The actress is happy with the success of her recent release "Dear Zindagi", in which she starred alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Her forthcoming films include "Badrinath Ki Dulhania" with Varun Dhawan and "Dragon" with Ranbir Kapoor.
