As many as 21 employees of Punjab Animal Husbandry Department were today found absent from their duties during a surprise check.
The surprise check was conducted by Animal Husbandry department Secretary V K Meena on the instructions of Animal Husbandry Minister Gurzar Singh Ranike to ensure punctuality and accountability of employees towards their duty and general public, an official release said here.
The Minister has issued instructions to seek explanation from the erring employees and initiate departmental action against them, it said.

Ranike said here the initiative has been taken to ensure the attendance of the employees at the offices so as to accelerate the service delivery mechanism.
The Minister said he has already instructed the Secretary to ensure timeline for disposal of official files and asked him to work out a computerised monitoring system to keep a check on their working.
Among 21 employees, who were found absent included, clerks and peons, posted at different branches of the department.
