Twenty-one Sri Lankan Tamils, who were all set to sail for Australia in a fishing boat from here, have been arrested, police said.
Tamil Nadu police with assistance from Kerala police made the arrests yesterday, police said.
The group, including six women and eight children, were picked up from a hotel here. They had come from Chennai by train.
They are from four refugee camps near Chennai and would be taken to Tamil Nadu later today, they said.
Police are on the lookout for an agent, who was paid Rs 13 lakh by the Lankans to take them to Australia.
