25-yr-old man awarded life sentence in rape-murder case

A 25-year-old man has been awarded life imprisonment for raping and murdering a girl in Bahala village here in 2011.

District and Session Court Judge O M Prakash Sinwar yesterday pronounced Khaju Khan, a resident of Tisgandi village in Barmer district, guilty under sections 302 and 376 of the IPC of raping and murdering a 24-year-old girl on May 14, 2011 and also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on him.

Khaju was against the girl's marriage to another person. On her wedding day, Khaju lured her away from her house and raped and murdered her. The girl's body was found the next day, prosecution said.
