The existing post of Director General, one post each of Additional DG (Archeology) and ADG (Administration), one post each of Director (Epigrahy)- Sanskrit and Dravidian Inscriptions and Arabic and Persian Inscription and 18 newly created posts of Joint Director Generals and four posts of Addl DG are lying vacant, Katoch said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.

She said the newly created posts of Addl DG and Jt DGs would be filled after finalisation of Recruiment Rules, which is under process.

"The posts of Directors (Epigraphy) could not be filled due to lack of qualified service of concerned officials in the respective grade. As regards to the existing posts of DG, Addl DGs, Archeology and General Administration the process is under way and likely to be filled up soon," Katoch said.
