27-year-old mason commits suicide in Punjab

A 27-year-old mason allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near Kui village here and blamed his wife for the drastic step, police said today.

Rakesh Kumar, in his suicide note, blamed his wife Manjita for "immense mental torture" which forced him to take the extreme step yesterday, they said.

A case has been registered in this connection and Manjita booked by the police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Kaushal said here.

The victim's body was sent for post-mortem examination at local civil hospital and later handed over to his parents.
