Three persons were arrested here today for allegedly betting during the ongoing World Cup cricket match between Australia and Afghanistan.
Betting amount of Rs 19,000 in cash, 10 mobile phones, a television set, a set-top box, dish TV, charger and a dairy containing records were also seized from their possession, an official spokesperson said.
The accused have been identified as Nitin, a resident of Masjid Wala Mohalla; Mukesh Kumar, a resident of DSP Road and Vikash, a resident of Shiv Chowk in Fatehabad.
He said police received information that many people were placing bets on the cricket match between Australia and Afghanistan in a house at Masjid Wala Mohalla.
Acting swiftly, police arrested the accused from the spot and recovered cash and other items from their possession.
