Three persons who made extortion calls to a government teacher have been arrested from ISBT in Kashmere Gate, police said today.
The accused -- Akash (23), Gagan (23) and Arvind (21) -- made extortion calls to Virender Kumar Gupta, a government teacher, and threatened him of dire consequences if he did not pay Rs 5 lakh, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
"The accused called the complainant Gupta and threatened him of dire consequences if he did not pay him Rs 5 lakh. He also threatened him that his son who was working in Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad will be shot if he approach police," the officer said.

They asked him to reach ISBT Kashmere Gate with the money. Police informed by Gupta laid a trap there and arrested the trio who had reached there to collect the money. A mobile phone and SIM card used to make the calls to the complainant, were recovered from them, said the officer.
During interrogation, it was revealed that both Gagan and Akash were known to the complainant. Akash's father is an employee in the school where the complainant teaches. Gagan had worked in the same school as an employee, he said.
