Three contract workers and a junior engineer of Tuticorin Thermal Power station were hospitalised today after they inhaled ash and coal powder dust spilt from a improperly closed box on a conveyor belt, officials said.
They said the workers were repairing the conveyor belt transporting coal to the boiler in the unit when the lid of the box suddenly flew open and dumped a huge quantity of ash and coal powder on them.
All four of them started choking and then fainted, following which they were admitted to a private hospital, officials said.
