3 dacoits lynched

Three dacoits were

lynched today by people when they stole Rs 3 lakh from a businessman in lower Assam's Barpeta district, police said.

The three dacoits waylaid the businessman of Langa Bazar as he alighted from a ferry boat at Kolgosia, fired in the air and stole the money from his bag before they attempted to flee away, police said.

Before they could scoot, they were caught by locals who severely beat them up and one of them succumbed to the injuries, it said.

The two others taken to Kolgosia Civil Hospital were declared brought dead, they said adding one of the dacoits was identified as Asaruddin alias Kalu.
