3 killed, 11 injured in mishap

Three persons were killed and seven others including four children were injured, when a speeding truck collided with the pickup van they were travelling in, police said today.

Rakesh Verma, a resident of Bhognipur, was travelling to Bharathana with his relatives for the wedding rituals of his daughter. During an attempt at overtaking, their van collided with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction, Kanpur Dehat police spokesperson said.

Ramchandra Rajput (45), Rajjan Savita (41) and Anuj (16) were killed in the accident. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, police added. The injured were taken to the hospital, he said adding that among the injured were four children, Kanchan, Ketan, Satyam and Harsh.
 

The police is on the lookout for the absconding truck driver, he added.
