30-year-old man sentenced to life for raping 4-year old girl

A Mahila Court today sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment for abducting and raping a four-year old girl at Devabetta near here over two years ago.

The prosecution case was that Ramesh, a tea estate worker, kidnapped the girl, residing near his house on October 11, 2011, took her to a secluded tea estate and raped her.

Judge (in-charge) G P Elango also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on Ramesh.

The girl and the mother were contract labourers from Jharkhand and both left for their native place after the incident.
