About 300 sovereigns of gold jewellery, five kg of silver articles and Rs 15 lakh in cash were stolen from the house of a businessman today,police said.
The theft came to light when the businessman, who runs a shrimp farm, returned home this morning with his family from Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, they said.
CCTV cameras at various portions of the house had been tampered with, police said, adding that they were examining video footage from the neighbouring premises to try and identify the culprits.
Forensic experts and sniffer dogs were also pressed into service.
