33 CISF personnel get I-day medals

Thirty-three CISF officials have been decorated with the President's police medals for their distinguished and meritorious service on the eve of the 70th Independence Day.

The awardees of the distinguished service medal include Deputy Inspector General Udayan Banerjee who joined the force in 1989.

Banerjee, currently posted as the contingent commander at the Durgapur Steel Plant in West Bengal, has served at various positions of the force including heading Central Industrial Security Force operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport airport here and at the Delhi Metro.

DIG Ajoy K Nag, posted at the India Security Press in Nashik, too was decorated with the same medal.
 

While 23 officers were awarded meritorious service medals, eight were given fire service medals.

The 1.48-lakh personnel strong CISF is tasked with securing major civil airports and vital installations in the nuclear and aerospace domain in the country among others.
