35.38 lakh tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

Paddy procurement in Punjab has reached 35.38 lakh tonnes during the ongoing kharif marketing season.

Out of total purchase, government owned agencies procured 34.24 lakh tonnes which work out at 96.8 per cent of total purchase while rest of crop was bought by private agencies, said an official spokesman.

Punjab is eyeing to procure 140 lakh tonnes of paddy in current season.
