35-year-old killed in road accident

A 35-year-old farmer today was killed after being hit by a speeding truck near Tikola in the district, police said.

Sugarcane farmer Harender was returning from a mill on his cart in the morning when his vehicle was hit by the speeding truck at Tikola village under Miranpur police station, they said.

While the victim succumbed to the injures, the driver of the truck fled the spot, they said.

The body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding that the efforts are on to nab the driver.
