362 houses damaged in thunderstorm

At least 362 houses were damaged by thunderstorm, accompanied by massive hailstorm and squall, which hit the Mizoram-Myanmar border village of Ratu last evening.

Officials of the Aizawl district deputy commissioner's office said the hails that damaged the houses were as big as the size of eggs and some of them were even bigger.

At least 12 houses were also completely damaged by the squall, the officials said.

Volunteers from the village and surrounding villages would undertake repair of the damaged houses today.
