A total of 38,644 motor theft cases were registered in 2016 as compared to 32,279 such cases in 2015, Delhi Police said today.
As per the annual report by the Delhi Police, motor vehicle thefts accounted for around 18.44 per cent of total IPC cases registered in the national capital.
Among the stolen vehicles, 28,409 were two-wheelers, 8,198 cars and 2,037 other vehicles, it said.
Almost 11.57 per cent stolen vehicles were recovered and 5,069 auto lifters were arrested, the report added.
