Goa Government distributed around 4.05 lakh LED bulbs to 1.35 lakh consumers free of cost in last five days under its ambitious "Jyotirmay Goa" scheme, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said today.

"We have distributed 4.05 lakh bulbs to 1.35 consumers during last five days. Total 111 programmes were held across all the constituencies," Parsekar told reporters today.

The scheme, which is tweaked version of Union government's "Ujala Yojana", was inaugurated on July 8 by Parsekar and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

The CM said the government has also decided to replace street bulbs with LED, which will result in saving electricity.
