4 arrested with 19.5 kg of charas on Jammu-Srinagar highway

Four persons were today arrested after police recovered 19.5 kilograms of charas from a private vehicle on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the police said.

The vehicle, coming from Srinagar to Jammu, was intercepted by a team of police officials at Nagrota near here and huge quantity of charas worth lakhs was recovered from them, a police spokesman said.

He said four persons travelling in the vehicle were arrested and a case was registered against them.

In another operation, the spokesman said one person was arrested from Bahu Fort area of the city and three kilograms of ganja (cannabis) was recovered from him.
 

Meanwhile, police arrested three persons who were roaming under suspicious circumstances in Gandhi Nagar area of the city this morning.

"The trio turned out motorcycle lifters during sustained questioning at the police station and six stolen two wheelers were recovered from them," the spokesman said.
