Four children, including a girl, were killed when a car hit them in Ataria area on National Highway 24, the police said today.
The accident took place last evening when Neeraj (15), Vikas (12), Rajveer (10) and Mansi (11) were grazing their goats along the highway, SO of Ataria police station O P Rai said.
"The severely injured children were rushed to a hospital where they were declared dead," he said.
Later, some locals blocked the highway demanding immediate arrest of the accused driver, who fled from the spot, the officer said.
The car was recovered at some distance from the accident spot, Rai said.
