A four-year-old girl was raped and murdered in the Pakistani city of Lahore leading to strong protests today.
Following the incident, family members of the girl blocked a local road for several hours demanding the arrest of the culprit. On the assurance of senior police officers they ended the protest.
Muhammad Hamid told reporters that his daughter went missing outside his house in Kot Khawaja Saeed, Gujarpura, a thickly-populated locality on Saturday afternoon.

He said he and other family members searched for her but to no avail.
"We approached the local police station but we were told that all staff was busy in local body elections (as it was an election day) duty therefore they would take up the matter next day," he said.
Yesterday evening the body of the girl was found from the rooftop of Hamid's neighbour's house after which the police finally registered an FIR against unknown kidnappers of his daughter, he said.
Police have shifted the body to a mortuary for autopsy.
Crime Investigation Agency officer Umer Virk confirmed that the girl was raped before being strangulated.
He further said the police have taken two sons of the neighbour into custody for interrogation.
"We are investigating the case from all aspects and will soon arrests the killers of the girl," Virk said.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and directed the police to arrest the culprits within 24 hours.
