40 kg of sweets found 'unfit' for human consumption, destroyed

The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department today raided a shop at Sector 65 here and destroyed 40 kg of sweets, terming them "unfit" for human consumption.

Food Safety Inspector Amit Singh and Renu Singh raided the shop at the Behlolpur area and took samples of milk-cake, burfi and rasgoola being sold at the store.

The team, on physical inspection, found that 25 kg of rasgoolas and 15 kg of burfi was smelling and was found "unfit for human consumption", an official said.

He said that 40 kg of sweets were destroyed.

The team had destroyed 25 kg of coloured sweets at Jewar, a day ahead of Diwali and on October 17, 10 kg of paneer in Tugalpur.
