49 sacks of smuggled hooch seized

Police today seized 49 sacks of hooch and 30 litre of raw spirit from a pick up van in Bakhri bazar area of Bihar's Begusarai district.

Acting on a tip off, police checked the pick up van on way to Bakhri bazar from Begusarai and seized the hooch packed in pouches, Officer in-charge of Bakhri police station Chitranjan Thakur said.

Each sack contained 100 pouches, he said adding the driver and his assistant were arrested.

A case has been registered and the matter has been referred to excise department.
