5-year-old male elephant found dead

A five-year-old male elephant was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in Old Valparai area, some 80 km from here, forest department officials said.

The carcass was noticed by the villagers who alerted the department officials, they said.

A postmortem was conducted and investigations are on to ascertain the cause of death, they said.
