50 admitted to hospital after having wedding meal in Pak

About 50 people, including 11 children and 16 women suffered food poisoning after eating Biriyani at a wedding feast in Pakistan's Punjab province, police said.

People started vomiting after they ate Biriyani served at a wedding function at a village in Rahim Yar Khan, some 400 kilometers from here.

They were shifted to a nearby hospital. The 50 patients include 11 children, 16 women, 13 men, a doctor said.

The condition of more than two dozen people turned serious and were shifted to another hospital.

According to initial findings, they suffered from food poisoning after eating unwholesome rice dish served to them at the wedding, the doctor said.
 

After providing first aid and drips, most of the patients were discharged from the hospital early yesterday, he said.
