A 50-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his son over the issue of division of property in Gangaghat police station area here, police said today.
The victim, Ram Dev, a security guard, used to live in a house with his second wife and three children in Premnagar locality where his son from first wife, Subhash also lived in a room along with his wife and two children, police said.
According to the complaint by the deceased's wife, Subhash had been pressurising his father to divide the property and yesterday he beat him up with an iron rod and plastic pipes, they said.
The victim's wife and daughter were also injured as they rushed to rescue the deceased, police said, adding that when the neighbours rushed to save the victims, the accused fled from the scene along with his family.
The injured were rushed to the government hospital where Ram Dev was declared brought dead. A manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused, police said.
