Showcasing global decor brands from 'The Pure Concept' and 'Godrej Design Labs' to 'Apartment9' and 'Obeetee', the 9-day exhibition that began here on February 11, aims to make design more accessible to the masses.

"Though business may be the main stay of the event, in a more macro context the true meaning of design is trickling down to the common housewife and homeowners and that will change the country's vision of design over decades," says Anuja Gupta, from Apartment9.

Covering a wide range of services from products to interiors, architecture to conservation and installation to lighting, the exhibition comprises of three verticals - IDExhibit, ID Symposium and ID Satellite.

Talking about the gradual evolution of the Capital as a "design hub", organiser Pramati Madhavji says the event has been faring well, particularly in terms of sale with every passing year, with both emerging and established designers coming up with unique works.

"Design industry is booming. We, at our end provide them the opportunity to participate and showcase their talent. Good thing is that we are getting bigger and better with each year, both in content and in size," says Madhavji.

The event which is witnessing participation by masters of design from all over the world, has roped in eminent speakers like Alberto Alessi, Sou Fujimoto, Kaif Faquih who will be sharing their experiences and knowledge on art and aesthetics during the main programme between February 16 and 19 at the NSIC Grounds in Okhla here.

With off-site activities planned across the design districts here like Lado Sarai, Meharchand Market, Shahpur Jat, Defence Colony among others, the event also seeks to transform the capital into a magnanimous design destination.

"This fun and creative vertical intends to create a new wave of design within eminent design districts of New Delhi. Interesting promotions, installations and events will be held across different venues," says Madhavji.

Promising a varied range of exhibition this year, according to the organiser "people will get to see a different aspect in the creations this time".

"This time we have designers who are into bespoke home furnishing, from bed linens to couch quirky decor items, handwoven carpets, lightings and other artifacts.

"Designers like Sarita Handa, Sahil and Sarthak, Alex Davis will all come together to present something novel and innovative," she says.
