6 cattle smugglers arrested in UP

Six persons were arrested when they were allegedly trying to smuggle 18 cattle heads in a truck in Balidanpurva village here, police said today.

Acting on a tip off, police carried out a raid yesterday and arrested six smugglers while trying to smuggle the cattle heads to West Bengal, in Risiya police station area, they said.

However, three of their accomplice managed to escape, police said.

A case has been lodged and investigations are underway on the information provided by them, police said, adding that a hunt has been launched to nab those absconding.
