The sleuths of DRI today arrested six persons in connection with seizure of 8.50 lakh cigarettes worth Rs 51 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, the officers of DRI on October 13 seized 8.50 lakh cigarettes of the foreign brand 'Djarum Black' valued at Rs 51 lakh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamsabad here, according to a DRI release.
The investigation revealed that the cigarettes were being smuggled from Dubai under the guise of engineering goods or computer parts, it said, adding in the past, the racketeers had smuggled foreign cigarettes worth Rs 90 lakh.
