A six-year-old girl was found murdered with multiple stab wounds in Chaksu town of the district today.
Shijen went missing from her house yesterday afternoon, police said, adding that her body was found today near a pond, about one km away from the house.
"She was stabbed to death as the body has injury marks in head and other parts.
"Reason of the murder is not known," Station House Officer (SHO) Chaksu Hemraj said, adding that the possibility of rape has been ruled out.
No arrest was made so far and the matter is under investigation, he said.
