In a major haul, 626 cartons of illegal liquor worth Rs 25 lakh were seized in two separate cases here, police said on Friday.
Police intercepted a truck and seized 416 cartons of illegal liquor at Dehradun-Delhi highway last evening, District Excise Officer Akhil Kumar said.
Two persons, identified as Laveen Kumar and Sandeep, were taken into custody, he said.
In another incident, police seized 210 cartons of illegal liquor at Sujru checkpost and arrested Mohd Zuber while his partner Mohit managed to escape from the spot, Kumar said.
The liquor was smuggled from Haryana to Muzaffarnagar, he said, adding this is the biggest recovery in the area so far.
