Altogether 7.02 lakh youths in Maharashtra are undergoing skill development training in association with leading corporates, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said today.

Replying to a debate in the Legislative Assembly on budgetary demands of the skill development department, he said the government is also mulling launching skill development schemes in agriculture.

"The average age of the state is 27 years, while 50 per cent of its population is below the age of 25 years. Unemployment is a grave problem," he said.

Organisations like JSW, Kohinoor and Tata Trusts have started training the youth in various fields, the CM said.

"We are also coordinating with some countries to improve skills of our youth," Fadnavis said.
