7.50 lakh looted from ATM

Miscreants today looted Rs 7.50 lakh after cutting open the cash box of an unguarded ATM of a nationalised bank at Sakchi here today, police said.

The thieves had used gas cutter to open the cash box of the ATM.

Stating that there was no security guard at the ATM booth, police said it was being investigated whether the CCTV camera installed at the booth was functional.

Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop T Mathew who visited the spot later said Rs 7.50 lakh were stolen from the ATM.

The theft came to light when maintenance staff came there.
