7 held for gambling

As many as seven

persons were today arrested for allegedly gambling in Jami mandal in the district, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, officials from the special branch raided the gambling den at M Kottavalasa village and nabbed the accused, an official release said.

Six mobile phones and cash worth around Rs 17,000 was seized from their possession, it said.

A case under section 9(2) of AP Gambling Act, 1997 has been registered and investigations are underway, a police official said, adding they will be produced in a local court tomorrow.
