7 kg gold seized in Manipur

Gold bars weighing about seven kg

have been seized by a team of Assam Rifles from Thoubal district of Manipur, officials said today.

A mobile check post laid by 9 sector Assam Rifles intercepted a car and during checking, found suspiciously packed items on August 2.

The team found 42 gold bars, weighing nearly seven kg in total, from the car moving from Moreh to Imphal on NH-102, the Assam Rifles said.

The vehicle was impounded and custom officials were informed accordingly, they said.
